Aquatic Ruins fractal – Jellyfish BeastThe first step is to free fishermen by killing all the krait surrounding the cell. After this, the fractal can differ to Dolphin Path or Deep Path.
Dolphin Path:When doing the dolphin path, take off all your gear. You gear won’t really help you survive against the kraits if you get nailed and you take gear damage if you die to the kraits. As long one person makes it to the Giant Jellyfish, they can suicide and everyone spawn at the checkpoint near the Giant Jellyfish.
If you don’t know where to go, hug the right wall and follow the icon on the map. Also, be sure to hug the floor to avoid aggroing from as many kraits as possible.
Dolphin Skills:
- Reveal hidden Krait. Use it regularly to avoid being ambushed, even in otherwise clear water.
- Creates a fish to distract krait. Use it in emergencies to get the krait to drop aggro on you (or a party member), but avoid over-use.
- Swim quickly straight ahead; you cannot change direction, so aim carefully.
- Unused
- Revives defeated players teleports them to the caster; does not work through some obstacles.
Deep Path:When doing this path, press down ctrl key and it will show you the luminous plants nearby. Go from plant to plant and don’t rush it. The only danger in this path are kraits who will immobilize you midway between the plants and cause you to die in between.
The luminous plant offers an aura that protects you from the environment. You can use the plant's #1 skill to revive an ally who is close to you. Stay as a group and move from one bubbly geyser to another (often marked by a brighter area).
Going into the dark without a plant will cause fish to attack you and kill you rapidly. Another option is to wait for a plant to respawn as you progress further into the deep. In this version it is possible for only one party member to make it to the next checkpoint and then wipe, allowing everyone to checkpoint past the darkness. This can often save time and repair costs, as well as large amounts of frustration for groups who aren't familiar with the path to take.
Jellyfish Beast:
- Jellyfish dies a lot quicker if you pull him into one of the electric cages. When he consumes someone, he will inflict agony on them and gain buffs (he can get up to 25 stacks of Might and gain Regeneration).
Mesmers can use Arcane Thievery coupled with Signet of Inspiration to steal the 25 stacks of Might and pass it onto nearby party members.
- You can prevent the agony attack by using any sink skill before he eats someone (cast right when the jellyfish starts his upward spin) – this will interrupt the attack animation and bypass the stacks of defiant.
- Guardians, Mesmers, and Elementalists all have skills that can sink/anchor the jellyfish boss to interrupt the agony attack.
- Fight actually goes faster with 0 AR because he stops the agony attack as soon the person receiving the agony is downed.
Achievements:Getting through the cave in the dolphin path without being caught will reward the player with an achievement.
Agony at Boss-fight:Players receive agony when the boss consumes them. This isn’t lethal as downed players can quickly rally by attacking the low health jellyfish adds nearby.
Tips:
- You can apply boons to yourself and your party members before transforming into a dolphin. Swiftness and Aegis are particularly helpful.
- When traveling through the darkness, use invulnerability or stability to rush past Krait.
- Remove your Armor, Back item and Breathing apparatus to save repair costs during the Deep path or the Dolphin path.
- A Mesmer can steal multiple stacks of might from the Jellyfish Beast with Arcane Thievery and then transfer them to his allies with Signet of Inspiration.
